Snofest Children's Art Exhibition

I was asked to judge Snofest, Peterborough's winter carnival, children's art exhibition. There were some great entries in primary, junior and intermediate and prizes will be awarded to the top three in each category. Thank you to all those who participated and congratulations to everyone.

Raise the Walls!

I had a lot of kids register for my Summer Discovery Raise the Walls! week August 8 to 12 at the Peterborough Museum & Archives.

"In this busy week you'll go for a nature walk to collect supplies for a hand painted tipi that the group can hang out in, bring a huge castle to life and make batik flags for the towers. Piece together a Lego city. AND craft a tonne of stuff to bring home and decorate your room."

Fabric Zoo

I had a great time teaching Fabric Zoo at the Art Gallery of Peterborough July 18 to 22.

"Get ready to bring home the zoo in an exploration of textiles! Batik and sew a rainbow zebra, knit an i-pod/game animal cozy, make your very own 3-D owl, and weave a rug for your cat, dog or even your baby hippopotamus!"

Art Gallery of Peterborough and Museum & Archives Summer Camps

I'm working at the Art Gallery of Peterborough as a docent and educational program guide. This summer from July 18-22 I will be teaching Fabric Zoo, a texiles program for kids, with activites focusing on batiking, knitting, sewing, 3D textiles construction and weaving.

This summer from August 8-12 I will be teaching a Summer Discovery program at the Peterborough Museum & Archives. Raise the Walls introduces sculpture and construction as the children build huts with fabric and elements of nature, put together a classroom size cardboard castle, piece together a lego city, make a clay sculpture for thier bedroom and craft wooden mirrors.

March Break Classes

I offered two classes this March Break, one was a half day at the Peterborough Public Library and the other was a full day at the Peterborough Museum and Archives. The classes were both full! The children and I made mosaic mirrors, mosaic picture frames, mosaic sea creatures, mosaic coasters, 3D monsters and our own stamps. Here are some photos of the creative kids and their crafts.
